Frequently Asked Questions

My front tooth is dark from an old root canal. Can this be fixed?

Absolutely. As you can see in this case, deep internal staining is a common issue we solve. While teeth whitening isn’t effective for this type of discoloration, a custom-designed porcelain veneer or all-ceramic crown can completely mask the underlying dark shade and restore the tooth to a beautiful, natural appearance that matches your other teeth perfectly.

Why does my old crown look so fake and obvious?

Many older crowns were made of porcelain fused to a metal base (PFM). This metal substructure, while strong, blocks light from passing through the crown. This is what creates an opaque, “flat” look that doesn’t match the natural translucency of enamel. Our modern, all-ceramic restorations are metal-free, which allows them to look and react to light just like your natural teeth, for a truly undetectable result.

Will I need crowns or veneers for my smile makeover?

The choice between veneers and crowns depends entirely on your individual needs, and we often use a combination of both for the best outcome. Veneers are thin porcelain shells ideal for cosmetic improvements to otherwise healthy teeth.

Crowns cover the entire tooth and are used when a tooth needs more structural support, such as after a root canal or if it is significantly broken down. 11 The first step is always a comprehensive evaluation where we determine the most conservative and effective plan to achieve your goals.
