Dr. Issa Abou Ayyash’s journey in dentistry is one defined by a relentless pursuit of clinical excellence and a deep, personal commitment to the communities he serves. With over 15 years of international and domestic experience, he has built a reputation for combining advanced, artful skill with a genuinely compassionate and personalized approach to patient care. The launch of Providence Dental Arts is the culmination of this journey—his first independent practice, founded on the vision of creating a new standard of dental care for the Fairfax community.
A Foundation of World-Class Expertise
Dr. Abou Ayyash believes that exceptional dental care begins with a foundation of elite training and a dedication to lifelong learning. After earning his dental degree from the Arab American University in 2006, he established his own successful private practice, which he ran for a decade. During this time, he also dedicated four years to serving communities through the United Nations (UNRWA), providing essential dental care.
Driven to master the most complex aspects of dentistry, Dr. Abou Ayyash completed a high diploma in Implant Dentistry in 2016. His expertise in the field was recognized internationally when he was invited to be a featured speaker at a global dental conference in Bologna, Italy, where he presented on advanced implant solutions for patients with complete tooth loss.
Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Abou Ayyash was accepted into the highly respected Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). This intensive training further refined his skills in handling the most complex dental challenges, from full-mouth rehabilitations to intricate cosmetic smile makeovers.
A Journey of Resilience and Dedication to Virginia
Dr. Abou Ayyash’s path to practicing in Virginia is a story of profound personal resilience and commitment. He and his family moved to the United States seeking the best possible medical care for his young son, who was battling leukemia. After his son’s passing, he was laid to rest in Virginia—a place that became sacred ground for the family. It was then that Dr. Abou Ayyash, his wife, and their four other children decided to make Virginia their permanent home, to remain close to him.
With unwavering determination, Dr. Abou Ayyash began a new chapter. He worked tirelessly, even as a dental assistant and Uber driver, to re-establish his professional career and once again pursue his passion for dentistry. His acceptance into the VCU residency was a pivotal moment. The program director, recognizing his immense skill and character, encouraged him to remain in Virginia, stating he would be a great asset to the community. After his residency, Dr. Abou Ayyash served as an associate dentist in Richmond, where he earned a stellar reputation among both patients and colleagues for his skillful work and compassionate care.

He is known for his ability to handle highly complex cases with precision and artistry, but his core philosophy remains simple: to treat every patient with the same personalized attention and gentle care he would want for his own family. He understands that trust is the most important part of the doctor-patient relationship and is committed to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and confident in their care.
